Shout if you love a good marshmallow! BUT did you know how ridiculously easy it is to make your own marshmallows at home? Legit ridiculously easy, especially if you use this recipe. In this video I use my marshmallow to create fun little sheep “Peeps” perfect for springtime, Easter or Eid.
But you can easily skip the step of using a cookie cutter to create the sheep and just cut your marshmallow into squares, dust with powdered sugar and never buy a bag at the market again.
For ease, here is the ingredient list for creating your own homemade marshmallows or DIY Peeps. Watch the tutorial where each step is broken down in the video here: WATCH THE VIDEO
Ingredients:
- 3 cups sugar
- 1.5 cups water
- 3 tbsp gelatin powder ( I like the Grass Fed Halal Gelatin from Hearthy foods)
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup white sanding sugar* (for making Peeps)
- a pinch of pearl edible dusting powder (optional to give your sheep a glittery glow).
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
*If creating marshmallow squares, skip the sanding sugar. Instead combine 1/3 cup powdered sugar and 1/3 cup cornstarch. Use this mixture in a sieve to dust the marshmallows all around so they don’t stick together.
Enjoy!
