I’m keen on refreshing drinks and mocktails that aren’t too sweet and are perfect for entertaining. Although I wouldn’t be above mixing this one up and sipping from a highball glass while driving (sorry, not sorry).
Blackberry Vanilla-Mint Mocktail
There are a few secret ingredients to this mocktail. Well not so secret anymore now that I’m posting it to the internet universe. The first key to this particular drink is using Blackberry Jam instead of blackberries for the flavor. Blackberries can be hit or miss on sweetness, while jam is already sweet and has a great depth of flavor. It may sound weird, but trust me peoples , IT IS GOOD!
The second secret to unique flavor in this drink is using a hint of Vanilla extract. Yup, that’s right, straight up Vanilla extract. Its brings a sweet note to the background and makes you step back and say whaaaaaaat?! Any vanilla will do, and if you’re looking to keep this truly alcohol-free, you can get some great alcohol-free Vanilla extract from Blossom and Bean.
This cocktail recipe would be perfect for your upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas or even New Year’s party. Or as noted earlier, to sip during your commute.
To get the party started, place all your ingredients, except for the sparkling water, in the bottom of the glass and muddle away to release some flavor from the lime wedges and mint leaves.
Once everything looks nice and squished together, pour in the club soda/sparkling water. My sparkling water of choice is good ol’ Perrier.
.
Top off with ice and garnish with a few blackberries and mint leaves.
Enjoy!

- In the bottom of a glass place Blackberry jam, mint leaves, simple syrup, vanilla extract, 2 lime wedges, and lime juice.
- Using a muddler or handle of a wood spoon, muddle the ingredients in the bottom of the glass focusing on breaking down the lime wedges and mint leaves.
